Holiday in Mosel with a glass of wine!
Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland are the two federal states which together form the Mosel area of Germany. Mosel-Saar-Ruwer as the Germans call it is the wine region around the river Mosel, Saar and Ruwer. The wines of the Riesling, Elbling en Müller-Thurgau grapes are most popular from this region. While on holiday in Mosel you can’t miss out on a nice glass of wine from this region.
Cities alongside the Mosel
Many German cities are situated alongside the river Mosel. The most important cities are Konz, Trier, Schwich, Leiwen, Piesport, Kues, Traben, Zell, Dieblich and Koblenz. So if you plan to visit some cities while on holiday in Mosel then there is choice enough. Many bridges are found in Koblenz and the eldest (the Balduin Bridge over the river Mosel) dates back to the 14th century. Remains of a bridge were found over the Rheine River that the Romans built in the 1st century BC. In Trier there are also many monuments from the Roman era, like the city wall, the Roman Spa’s and an Amphitheatre. You will not be bored on a holiday in the Mosel because there is enough to do and see.
